Dominican Man Charged with Re-Entering U.S. Illegally
BOSTON – Pablo Geraldo Baez-Soto, a 33-year-old Dominican national, has been charged with illegally re-entering the United States after being deported. Baez-Soto was indicted on one count of illegal reentry of a deported alien.
According to court documents, law enforcement encountered Baez-Soto in August 2016 and determined him to be illegally present in the United States. Baez-Soto was previously deported on Aug. 11, 2010.
If convicted, Baez-Soto faces a sentence of no greater than two years in prison, one year of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, and will be subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Rebecca J. Adducci, Interim Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, made the announcement today.
The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
