Massachusetts Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

A 57-year-old man from Dedham, Massachusetts, has been arrested on child pornography charges. Donald F. Slason was taken into custody on March 23, 2011, after an indictment was filed under seal in the District of Massachusetts. The indictment charges him with one count of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, the penalty for transportation of child pornography is a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison. Possession of child pornography carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The case against Slason was investigated by HSI and the Dedham Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael I. Yoon of the District of Massachusetts and CEOS Trial Attorney Bonnie L. Kane of the Criminal Division.
