Dorian Lester, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, South Dakota 2018

A horrific case of child abuse shook the quiet town of Wagner, South Dakota, when 22-year-old Dorian Lester was sentenced to 24 months in custody for Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

The crime took place on November 23, 2014, when Lester engaged in a sexual act with a 12-year-old girl who had been drinking alcohol at a home in the South Housing area of Wagner.

Lester was indicted for the crime by a federal grand jury on August 9, 2016. He pleaded guilty to the charges on February 15, 2018.

On May 9, 2018, U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier handed down the sentence, ordering Lester to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in addition to his 24 months of incarceration.

Lester was also required to register as a sex offender upon release from incarceration, a harsh reminder of the gravity of his crimes.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Clapper prosecuting the case. Lester was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

This sentence serves as a stark warning to those who would prey on the innocent, and a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement to protect our children.
