A 26-year-old Clarksburg man is facing serious charges after authorities accused him of possessing a firearm in Upshur County in 2020.
Dustin Cain Anderson, a person prohibited from having firearms, allegedly had a .22 caliber revolver in November of that year.
Anderson is facing up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Bill Powell in a statement earlier today.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher L. Bauer is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
Anderson is presumed innocent until proven guilty. An indictment is merely an accusation, and the outcome of the case is still pending.
