Huntington Man Sentenced to 9 Years for Heroin and Cocaine Charges
A Huntington man has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for his role in a heroin and cocaine trafficking operation. Dwight McVernon Green, 24, was arrested in July 2014 after being stopped by a Huntington Police officer for speeding.
During the traffic stop, Green was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a loaded pistol with a chambered round, nearly $60,000 in cash, and a box of clear plastic baggies. In the trunk of the vehicle, officers found two plastic bags containing 104 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of heroin.
Green pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine for resale in October 2014. On July 10, 2014, he was sentenced to 87 months in prison for the drug charge, with an additional 21 months for violating his supervised release. The sentences will run consecutively.
Chief United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence. The case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force, and Assistant United States Attorney Greg McVey was in charge of the prosecution.
