Eagle Butte Man Sentenced For Possession Of A Stolen Firearm
February 2, 2015, marked a significant day in the life of Shilo Hill, a 19-year-old from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, as he was sentenced to 2 months in custody for possessing a stolen firearm.
Hill, also known as Shilo Robideau, knowingly and unlawfully received, possessed, concealed, and stored a .45 caliber Glock pistol, which he had stolen. The firearm was manufactured outside of South Dakota and was shipped and transported in interstate commerce before Hill took and possessed the firearm.
According to reports, Hill was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 15, 2014, for Second Degree Burglary, Larceny, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. He later pled guilty to Possession of a Stolen Firearm on November 17, 2014.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
As a result of Hill’s conviction, he was sentenced to 2 months in custody, 18 months of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Hill was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. This case serves as a reminder of the consequences of possessing a stolen firearm and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat crime in the region.
