Fort Hall, Idaho – In a shocking turn of events, 30-year-old Echo Pocatilla has been sentenced to 37 months imprisonment for her role in a brutal assault that left her victim seriously injured.
The crime, which occurred on September 23, 2011, on the Wind River Indian Reservation, has left many in the community reeling. According to sources, Pocatilla was involved in a stabbing incident that resulted in serious bodily injury to the victim.
The charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury carries a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment, a $250,000.00 fine, or both; supervised release of not more than three years; restitution; and a $100.00 special assessment. Pocatilla’s sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Scott Skavdahl on January 18, 2013.
Pocatilla was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $12,034.00 in restitution as part of her sentence. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
