Lower Brule Man Sentenced to 6 Months in Federal Prison for Assaulting Federal Officers

PIERRE – A Lower Brule man was sentenced to six months in federal prison for assaulting federal officers, according to a recent announcement by U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell.

Eddie Bromwich, age 45, was found guilty of Assaulting, Resisting, and Impeding a Federal Officer after a three-day jury trial in April 2025.

The incident occurred on February 6, 2024, when Bureau of Indian Affairs law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop of Bromwich for speeding in the Lower Brule Sioux Indian Reservation.

Bromwich argued with and resisted commands from the officers before engaging in a physical struggle, resulting in one of the officers suffering a broken finger.

The sentencing took place on June 30, 2025, and Bromwich was also ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
