A local physician was sentenced to prison time for her role in a prescription painkiller trafficking scheme in Northern West Virginia.
Edita Milan, M.D., a physician with a medical practice in Bridgeport, West Virginia, conspired to unlawfully distribute prescription painkillers with Mario Blount, a licensed pharmacist and former mayor of Bridgeport. Milan was sentenced in May 2015 to 60 months in prison.
The investigation was led by the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative. The task force was recognized for its outstanding contributions to regional law enforcement objectives and prosecutions during an awards ceremony hosted by United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.
