BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo resident Edward Green, 28, has pled guilty to selling cocaine base in Lackawanna.
According to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr., the defendant sold approximately 3 grams of cocaine base to a confidential informant on August 18, 2014, and another 2 grams on August 19, 2014. Both transactions occurred within 1,000 feet of public housing property.
The controlled purchases were observed by officers of the Lackawanna Police Department and were the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Lackawanna Police Department.
Green faces a mandatory minimum term of 1 year in prison and the maximum possible sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, a mandatory $100 special assessment, and a term of supervised release of 6 years up to life.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward H. White is handling the case. Sentencing is scheduled to be set by Judge Skretny.
The plea is the result of a culmination of a thorough investigation by law enforcement agencies. The outcome highlights the efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Green’s exact sentence will be determined by the court at a later date. In the meantime, the public remains vigilant in the fight against crime.
