Wilson Alfredo Figueroa-Landaverde, a 30-year-old El Salvadoran national, has been charged with unlawful reentry into the United States after being deported. The incident occurred on July 1, 2026, when Figueroa-Landaverde resisted arrest outside his residence in Everett, Massachusetts, and grabbed an officer’s gun during the struggle. Figueroa-Landaverde had initially entered the US illegally in 2015 by crossing the Rio Grande River from Mexico on a raft.
According to court documents, Figueroa-Landaverde was first encountered by authorities on July 3, 2015, and was subsequently removed from the US on July 14, 2015. However, it is alleged that he reentered the country at some point thereafter. In February 2026, federal authorities received information that Figueroa-Landaverde was residing in Everett, leading to his arrest on July 1, 2026.
The charge of illegal reentry carries a sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. Figueroa-Landaverde is also subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed. The case is being handled by Assistant US Attorney Catherine Conroy of the Major Crimes unit.
