It was there that Ursula Missioner, a wealthy widow, had a screaming fit when her prized necklace shattered on the floor, sending diamonds scattering everywhere. The two men vying for her affections, Curtis Griswold and Bruxton Hands, rushed to gather up the gems, but their haste proved disastrous. Griswold inadvertently crushed the celebrated Maharanee, a diamond rumored to be one of a kind, leaving a Hindu expert to declare it a fake. Further investigation revealed that all the stones were mere substitutes for the originals.
