Methamphetamine Conspiracy Lands Woman in Prison

A Marshalltown woman, Elizabeth Andrade, 31, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for her role in a methamphetamine conspiracy. Andrade was sentenced on April 14, 2023, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Andrade conspired with Des Moines man, Adam Michael Browning, 38, to distribute over 20 pounds of methamphetamine in the Des Moines, Iowa, area from July 2021 to April 2022. As part of the conspiracy, Andrade acted as a broker or middleman and introduced Browning to methamphetamine sources in Marshalltown, Des Moines, and Mexico. She also sent drug proceeds via wire transfer to Browning’s sources in Mexico.

Browning, who was sentenced on July 10, 2023, received 180 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy. In addition to the conspiracy charge, Browning pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

Following their prison terms, Andrade and Browning each must complete five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force (MIDTF), Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement (MINE) Task Force Des Moines Resident Office, Marshalltown Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Narcotics Enforcement.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement.

Andrade and Browning’s conspiracy involved the distribution of over 20 pounds of methamphetamine, a serious crime that has devastating effects on individuals and communities.

This case is a reminder of the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking and bring those responsible to justice.
