He continued southwest on foot until he reached the Rouses Point train station, where he was apprehended by Border Patrol agents.

United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Chief Patrol Agent John C. Pfeifer, United States Border Patrol, Swanton Sector, made the announcement. The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan.

Following his jail sentence, Michalczuk will be transferred to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security and will be subject to removal proceedings.
