Emory Q. Jackson, Possessing a Firearm While Being a Convicted Felon, Tennessee 2024

A federal jury in Greeneville has convicted a 41-year-old Tennessee man of possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon.

Emory Q. Jackson, a resident of Johnson City, was found guilty of violating federal law prohibiting individuals with a history of serious crimes from possessing firearms.

The conviction stems from a three-day trial in United States District Court, where jurors heard evidence that Jackson possessed a firearm in both public and online settings.

Prosecutors presented testimony that Jackson had waved and pointed a firearm at a camera while rapping in a music video posted to his social media account.

Jackson faces a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence under the Armed Career Criminal Act (ACCA), with a maximum life sentence possible. Sentencing is set for February 28, 2024, at 9:00 am before the Honorable J. Ronnie Greer.

The Johnson City Police Department led the investigation, which resulted in Jackson’s indictment and subsequent conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Meghan L. Gomez and Andrew C. Parker represented the United States at trial.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a national strategy aimed at local partnerships to effectively enforce existing gun laws.
