A disturbing incident on an American Airlines flight from Cancun, Mexico to Miami International Airport has led to a federal prison sentence for a Canadian man.
Enio Socorro Zayas, 50, was sentenced to six months in U.S. federal prison for assaulting a flight attendant on August 6, 2021, while traveling on American Airlines flight #1723.
According to the investigation, the flight attendant had left snacks on Zayas’ lap, believing he was asleep. However, Zayas then reached around his side, intentionally grabbed the flight attendant on the back of the leg, and moved his hand up to her buttocks, all without the flight attendant’s consent.
The case was investigated by the FBI Miami and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Miami and Tampa Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter A. Laserna prosecuted the case.
Senior U.S. District Judge Paul C. Huck imposed the sentence.
Enio Socorro Zayas, Canadian national, was found guilty of assaulting a flight attendant.
The crime took place on August 6, 2021, in Miami, Florida.
The defendant received a six-month prison sentence.
