New Hampshire Man Sentenced for Conspiring to Transport for Prostitution
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – In a shocking case of human trafficking, Enoc Ayuso, a 26-year-old man from Dorchester, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for conspiring to transport an individual in interstate commerce for prostitution.
The court imposed the statutory maximum sentence on Ayuso, who will serve a period of supervised release after his imprisonment. The case began in February 2014, when Homeland Security Investigations and the Salem Police Department, with the assistance of the Boston Police Department, rescued a minor female who was engaging in prostitution from a Salem hotel room.
Upon further investigation, authorities identified multiple individuals involved in the scheme to transport the female from Boston, Massachusetts to Salem, New Hampshire for prostitution, including Ayuso. The case was investigated by the Manchester, New Hampshire Homeland Security Investigations and the Salem Police Department, in conjunction with the police departments of Boston, Massachusetts and Manchester, New Hampshire, as well as the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (NH ICAC).
This case is a stark reminder of the ongoing problem of human trafficking in our country. The Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative has been working tirelessly to protect children from online exploitation and abuse since its introduction in February 2006.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire has been working closely with local law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators of human trafficking to justice. In this case, the hard work and dedication of the investigators and prosecutors have resulted in a significant sentence for Ayuso.
Ayuso’s sentence serves as a warning to those who engage in human trafficking: the consequences will be severe. The people of New Hampshire can rest easier knowing that those who prey on the vulnerable will be held accountable.
This case is a testament to the power of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. By working together, we can make our communities safer and more just for all.
