Eric Collins, Gun Trafficking, New Hampshire 2017

Eric Collins, 44, of Epsom, is headed to federal prison for 78 months after being sentenced on firearm and drug trafficking charges, Acting United States Attorney John J. Farley announced today. The sentence caps a years-long case rooted in a 2017 search that uncovered a dangerous arsenal and a stash of deadly narcotics.

On February 2017, Concord police executed a search warrant on Collins’ vehicle and pulled out two loaded firearms, over $7,500 in cash, and a cocktail of controlled substances—including fentanyl and methamphetamine. The discovery painted a clear picture: Collins wasn’t just moving drugs—he was armed and ready to protect his operation.

Court records show Collins pleaded guilty on November 21, 2017, to the serious federal charge of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, along with possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute. The plea deal included an agreement to forfeit all seized firearms and cash.

The investigation was a joint push by the Concord Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), highlighting the tightening net on violent drug offenders in New Hampshire. Federal prosecutors treated the case with the gravity it demanded.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Georgiana L. Konesky handled the prosecution, ensuring Collins faced the full weight of federal law. With fentanyl flooding communities and gun violence rising, cases like this are flashpoints in the broader fight against street-level crime.

The case falls under ATF’s Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federally funded initiative targeting gun crime through aggressive enforcement, training, and outreach. Collins’ conviction is being touted as a win in that ongoing battle—one more trafficker off the streets, one less threat to the public.
