Orlando Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Fentanyl Trafficking
Eric C. Falkowski, a 35-year-old man from Orlando, Florida, has been sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking operation. According to court documents, Falkowski obtained fentanyl and other controlled substances from China to manufacture counterfeit prescription pills, including Xanax and Percocet.
Between February 2016 and his eventual arrest, Falkowski and his associates transported counterfeit pills to several states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas. Law enforcement officers recovered over 300 grams of fentanyl, various other controlled substances, pill presses, and dyes during a search of Falkowski’s residence in February 2016.
The search also uncovered seven firearms, including a 9mm Luger Beretta pistol, a 9mm Luger Heckler & Koch pistol, a .22 caliber Ruger pistol, a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, a 5.56 caliber NATO Sig Sauer M400 rifle, a 9mm Ruger pistol, and a .380 caliber Walther pistol. Falkowski’s fingerprints were found on the .380 caliber Walther pistol, a firearm he was prohibited from possessing as a previously convicted felon.
Falkowski pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and being a felon in possession of a firearm on December 15, 2016. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn P. Napier.
The sentence handed down to Falkowski serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of fentanyl trafficking and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat it. As the opioid epidemic continues to grip the nation, cases like Falkowski’s serve as a stark warning to those involved in the trafficking of these deadly substances.
Falkowski’s sentence is a testament to the tireless work of law enforcement and the justice system in bringing those responsible for these crimes to account. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
