A Boston gang member has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a violent gang based in the city’s Dorchester section.
Eric Correia, 26, of Boston, was sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young to 15 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
Correia pleaded guilty in April 2024 to conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise, also known as RICO conspiracy, and distribution of marijuana.
The violent gang, known as Cameron Street, uses violence and threats of violence to preserve, protect and expand its territory, promote a climate of fear and enhance its reputation.
Correia was identified as a member of the gang and admitted to his role in an armed robbery with a firearm of a drug customer and distributing $1,400 worth of marijuana to a cooperating witness.
The victim of the attempted murder was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Correia also admitted to committing a March 2019 attempted murder with a firearm of a rival gang member in Dorchester.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and local law enforcement agencies.
Correia’s sentence is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative, which provides for the establishment of permanent multi-agency task force teams that work side-by-side in the same location.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Pohl and Charles Dell’Anno prosecuted the case.
