Heroin Trafficking Plagues Bridgeport Streets

A notorious heroin trafficker has been brought to justice in a federal court in Hartford, Connecticut. Eric Green, 31, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Green was a member of a Bridgeport-based heroin trafficking organization that received at least 30 kilograms of heroin from Mexico between April 2015 and March 2017. The investigation revealed that Green distributed more than three kilograms of heroin to his own customers.

The investigation, which included multiple controlled purchases of heroin from Green, was conducted by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force, DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, and Bridgeport Police Department.

Green faces a maximum term of imprisonment of life when he is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant on June 20, 2017.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph Vizcarrondo and Alina Reynolds. Green was arrested on March 24, 2017, after a grand jury in Hartford returned an indictment charging Green and six other individuals with heroin trafficking and related offenses on March 16, 2017.

The guilty plea marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against heroin trafficking in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of heroin on communities and the importance of continued efforts to combat this deadly drug.
