A Bronx man has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. Eriel Rivera, 42, was found guilty of the crime.
Rivera was arrested on September 29, 2017 in a coffee shop in Niagara Falls, New York. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of $1,885 in cash and a quantity of suspected heroin.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Higgins, Rivera sold a quantity of cocaine to a confidential source working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on July 8 and July 22, 2017.
The investigation into Rivera’s activities was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict.
The case against Rivera was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Higgins.
U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handed down the sentence against Rivera.
Rivera’s sentence is the culmination of an investigation into his heroin trafficking activities.
