Rochester Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery
A Rochester man has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for a string of bank robberies in the city.
Ernest Young, 50, was convicted of bank robbery and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa on [no date provided].
Young was accused of robbing four banks over the course of one week in December 2016 and January 2017, just days after being released from the New York State Department of Corrections on similar charges.
The defendant demanded money from the teller and said he had a gun during each of the robberies. He targeted the following banks:
- Bank of America branch located at 671 Park Avenue in Rochester on January 5, 2017
- Chase Bank branch located at 3917 Lake Avenue in Rochester on January 6, 2017
- M&T Bank branch located at 314 Waring Road in Rochester on December 31, 2016
- M&T Bank branch located at 1385 Lyell Avenue in Rochester on January 4, 2017
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Rochester Area Major Crimes Task Force, and Rochester Police Department.
