The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the plea, which could carry a sentence of up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charge stems from the tragic events that unfolded on September 15, 2017, when Brown is alleged to have taken the victim’s life with malice aforethought.
This heinous act occurred within McIntosh County, situated on the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, falling under the Eastern District of Oklahoma’s jurisdiction. The investigation leading to the charges was a collaborative effort between the Eufaula Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Brown’s case is now in the hands of the Honorable David C. Joseph, a U.S. District Judge from the Western District of Louisiana sitting by assignment. Judge Joseph has ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report to guide the sentencing process. Brown currently remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until his sentence is determined.
