Boston Man Charged in 2019 Bank Heist

An Illinois man has been indicted on a bank robbery charge in connection with a 2019 heist in Boston.

Eugene Davis, 54, of Chicago, Ill., was indicted on one count of bank robbery in federal court in Boston.

According to court documents, Davis allegedly robbed a branch of the East Boston Savings Bank located in South Boston on June 3, 2019.

The charge against Davis carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, up to five years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Kerry A. Gilpin, and Boston Police Chief William Gross.

It is worth noting that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
