Bradley Temple, 48, the ex-head of Righteous Brother’s Trucking, just confessed to ripping off nearly $300,000 in COVID-19 relief money. The Wheeling, WV native, now living the high life in Delray Beach, Florida, admitted to falsifying documents to snag funds from both the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. He wasn’t using it to save jobs – he was allegedly using it to line his own pockets.
Federal prosecutors say Temple walked away with $277,456 in ill-gotten gains. And he didn’t squirrel it away. Temple splashed out, including a $40,000 check for a brand new vehicle, according to court documents. The feds say he fabricated payroll and other records to make his trucking company *look* eligible for the funds it didn’t deserve.
The scheme came crashing down thanks to the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), along with investigators from the IRS and the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) – yes, NASA. They’re the ones who untangled the mess and built the case against Temple.
Now, Temple is staring down the barrel of up to ten years in federal prison and a court order to repay every stolen dollar. Sentencing is scheduled for later this year. It’s just the latest example of how brazenly some people exploited the pandemic to pad their wallets.
