A 27-year-old woman from Shiprock, New Mexico, is facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting a Navajo Police Officer with a knife.
According to a recent arraignment in federal court, Faith Nicholle Sullivan, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. The alleged assault occurred on June 8, 2021, at Sullivan’s residence in Shiprock on the Navajo Nation.
An indictment is only an allegation, and Sullivan is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.
The alleged assault was investigated by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigation and the Navajo Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Alexander F. Flores is prosecuting the case.
Sullivan will remain in custody pending trial.
An indictment was handed down by a federal grand jury on October 14, 2021. The indictment and other court records detail the alleged assault and provide evidence for the prosecution’s case.
It is essential to note that an indictment is only an allegation, and Sullivan’s guilt has not been proven in a court of law.
