Fargo Drug Kingpin Fox Sentenced to 40 Years

FARGO – Karmen Charles Fox, a 34-year-old Fargo resident, has been handed a brutal 40-year sentence for leading a massive drug distribution enterprise that resulted in death. United States Attorney Jennifer Klemetsrud Puhl announced the sentencing of Fox by Chief Judge Peter Welte.

Fox faced numerous charges including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, money laundering, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and more. He was also ordered to pay a $700 Special Assessment.

The investigation began following an overdose death on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation. It was revealed that Fox was the primary source of the pills ingested by the victim. He sold fentanyl throughout North Dakota, including on two reservations, through his coconspirators like Scott Roberts, Kristin Carrington, Chasity Lynn Feather, and Aiana Richotte.

In December 2022, Fox distributed over 100 fentanyl pills to Feather and Richotte, who then transported them to Devils Lake for further distribution. One of the pills led to a fatal overdose on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

Following an extensive investigation, law enforcement executed search warrants that resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and firearms. Fox was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior felony convictions.

A jury trial found Fox guilty on March 19, 2025, and his coconspirators were also sentenced to federal prison. FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. emphasized that drug dealers will not escape law enforcement’s grasp. Acting US Attorney Puhl said the sentence serves as a warning to others engaging in similar activities.
