Farren Mason, Sr., Attempt to Possess with Intent Heroin, Pennsylvania 2018

Farren Mason, Sr., Sentenced to 41 Months in Prison for Heroin Possession

A resident of Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison on conviction of attempt to possess with intent heroin.

Farren Mason, Sr., 60, received the sentence in federal court from United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan.

The evidence presented in court revealed that on November 9, 2018, agents and task force officers conducted searches of Mason’s car and house. During the searches, they recovered a staggering 150 bricks of heroin from Mason’s car and additional heroin and $70,000 in cash were found in Mason’s house.

The total amount of heroin seized totaled 232 grams. This is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of heroin on our communities.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael Leo Ivory prosecuted this case on behalf of the government, while United States Attorney Scott W. Brady commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office Drug Enforcement Task Force, and the North Versailles Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Mason.

United States Attorney Brady stated, ‘Mason’s sentence is intended to hold him accountable for his crimes and to deter future criminal conduct.’

"The sentence imposed today sends a clear message that those who engage in heroin trafficking will face severe consequences," Brady added.
