Fayetteville Man Sentenced for Crack Cocaine Trafficking

A 35-year-old Fayetteville man has been sentenced to 264 months in prison for his role in a crack cocaine trafficking operation. Jarvis McCoy was found guilty of conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute over 1 kilogram of crack cocaine and over 100 grams of cocaine.

According to court documents, McCoy sold small amounts of crack cocaine to confidential informants on three separate occasions in August 2010. However, his crimes escalated when law enforcement conducted a traffic stop of his vehicle and found approximately 30 grams of crack cocaine. A search of his residence led to the seizure of an additional 231 grams of crack cocaine.

In September 2011, another search warrant was executed, resulting in the discovery of 44.87 grams of cocaine base attributed to McCoy. Finally, in January 2012, a search warrant was executed at McCoy’s residence, leading to the recovery of 10.7 grams of crack cocaine.

The investigation into McCoy’s crimes was conducted by the Fayetteville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Rudy E. Renfer prosecuted the case for the government.

United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced the sentencing, which was handed down by United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard. McCoy will serve 264 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.
