Thirteen suspects are behind bars following a sweeping FBI crackdown on a violent drug trafficking network stretching from Athens to metro Atlanta. Federal indictments unsealed Thursday reveal a tightly-woven syndicate accused of flooding neighborhoods with cocaine, heroin, meth, and fentanyl—while arming themselves with everything from stolen handguns to a live land mine.
Among those charged: Reginald Battle, Sr., 46, of Statham, Georgia, faces conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. Quintavious Clark, aka Tre Clark, 28, of Athens, is charged with one count of conspiracy and four counts of distribution of cocaine base and cocaine. TaMichael Darden, aka T-Mike, 40, also of Athens, faces the same conspiracy charge plus four counts of distributing crack and cocaine.
The arsenal seized is staggering—60 firearms, $1,036,172 in cash, and a functional land mine. In Thursday’s Athens raids alone, agents pulled 6.9 pounds of marijuana, three ounces of cocaine, 2.3 ounces of heroin, and $6,491 from hideouts. Mohamed Elnour, 33, of Atlanta, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm during a drug crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Weapons charges cut deep into the list: Daquan Faust, aka Cocaine, 29, of Athens, is charged with illegal possession of a machine gun and a stolen firearm. Tevondous Kinney, 29, of Athens, faces two counts of crack distribution, meth possession with intent to distribute, a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime, and being a convicted felon in possession. Hendrex Nicely, aka Hen, 32, is charged with two counts of heroin distribution.
Other defendants include Corey Mitchell, aka Murda, 37, of Athens, charged with conspiracy and cocaine distribution; Danny Sims, aka Danny Boy, 57, of Hull, Georgia, facing conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute crack; and Miller Sutton, 64, of Winder, charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Darren Thrasher, 45, of Athens, faces three counts of crack distribution, while Marqueze Johnson, 25, and Gregory Wade, Sr., 53, both of Athens, are each charged with one count of crack distribution.
Initial appearances were held Nov. 18 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles H. Weigle. Detention hearings were postponed to Nov. 22 in Macon federal court. The case is being prosecuted under the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, targeting violent crime hotspots through coordinated state, local, and federal enforcement. The investigation continues as authorities map the full scope of the ring’s Atlanta connections.
