Alejandro Moya, a 36-year-old Albuquerque man, allegedly threatened to kill an FBI special agent during a phone call on July 14, 2026, over firearms seized during a 2020 federal search warrant. Moya demanded the return of his guns, telling the agent to return them or face death. The agent had contacted Moya regarding his request to return the seized firearms, which led to Moya’s violent outburst.
According to court documents, Moya stated, ‘Give me my fucking shit or I’m gonna kill you,’ and ‘I will fucking cut your head off.’ He also told the agent, ‘You’re fucking dead,’ and challenged the agent to meet him at a residence in Albuquerque for a confrontation. Moya knew he was speaking with an FBI agent when he made the threats.
Moya is charged with interstate threatening communications and was released on his own recognizance after his initial appearance. He is expected to appear in court on July 20, 2026, for a combined preliminary and detention hearing. If convicted, Moya faces up to five years in prison.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Mondragon prosecuting.
