A brutal shooting in Little Water, New Mexico, left one man fighting for life and another man facing up to 10 years in prison.
Anthony Sandoval, a 41-year-old enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, got into a drunken altercation with a friend on July 29, 2024.
The dispute turned deadly when Sandoval pulled out a gun and shot his friend, who was hospitalized and underwent surgery to repair his injuries.
Sandoval called for help, admitting to the shooting before fleeing the scene and hiding the gun. He was caught that night and the firearm was recovered.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall is prosecuting the case, with the FBI and Navajo Nation Police Department contributing to the investigation.
