The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has announced a significant shuffle in its top ranks, appointing Patrick Mitchell and Donna Saulnier to lead the Division of Insurance and Research (DIR) and the Division of Finance (DOF), respectively.
Mitchell, a seasoned veteran with over three decades of experience at the FDIC, will now oversee the DIR, which is responsible for research on banking policy, risk assessment, and economic analysis. His previous roles include Deputy Director for the Deposit Insurance and Risk Analysis area within DIR, as well as Associate Director for Asset Management.
Saulnier, who has been with the FDIC for nearly 32 years, will take the helm at DOF. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing all corporate financial operations, including oversight of the $123 billion Deposit Insurance Fund.
Both Mitchell and Saulnier bring a wealth of experience to their respective roles. Mitchell is a CFA charterholder with an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Economics (Mathematical) from the United States Military Academy. Saulnier graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, specializing in Accounting.
The FDIC’s Acting Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg expressed confidence in the new appointments, stating, ‘Pat Mitchell and Donna Saulnier bring decades of expertise to these roles. They are recognized leaders within our organization, and I look forward to working with them to continue advancing our priorities.’
This shake-up at the FDIC is seen as a strategic move to enhance the agency’s capabilities in managing financial risks and ensuring the stability of the banking system.
