Washington – Maurice Felder, 54, of Washington, D.C., was found guilty of assault with significant bodily injury while armed, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a prohibited weapon in connection with a stabbing on November 10, 2024.
The verdict, delivered on October 15, 2025, came after a trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Felder now faces up to 30 years in prison for his crimes, with sentencing set for December 12, 2025, by Judge Todd Edelman.
According to government evidence, around 1:00 a.m. on November 10, 2024, the victim and his friends were strolling near the intersection of 7th St NW and T St NW when Felder began arguing with them. The situation escalated as the victim tried to protect his group from Felder, who then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest, narrowly missing the heart.
Felder was caught shortly after the incident, roughly one block away, matching the description of the suspect. A knife was found on him, which matched the one used in the attack. He has been held since his arrest.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Chief Pamela Smith was present for the announcement, and the case is a testament to their thorough investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Valerie Tsesarenko and Randle Wilson prosecuted the case.
