Felon Kashone Demetrious Bing, 20, of Levy County, Florida, has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, according to a federal indictment.
The indictment, announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, alleges that Bing, a two-time convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm and ammunition in violation of federal law.
Bing is scheduled to appear in federal court on July 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. before United States Magistrate Judge Midori Lowry in Gainesville, Florida. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case, with Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner prosecuting the charges.
Bing’s indictment is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent crime and protecting communities from perpetrators of violent crime.
An indictment is merely an allegation, and Bing is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is one of 94 offices that serve as the nation’s principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General.
