Felon Charged with Illegally Possessing Pistol in Pittsburgh, PA
A 41-year-old man has been indicted on charges of violating firearm laws in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Paul Anthony Parrish, aka Paul Anthony Carmona, aka Paul Carmona Parrish, aka ‘Pills’, has been charged with illegally possessing a 9 mm caliber semi-automatic Ruger pistol and 9 mm ammunition.
According to the indictment, Parrish possessed the firearm from late 2016 to March 12, 2017. This is a serious offense, as Parrish has previously been convicted of a felony, making him prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The law provides for a maximum sentence of up to life imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Ross E. Lenhardt is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, the Allegheny County Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service, assisted in the investigation.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made addressing rising violent crime in America a top priority.
An indictment is an accusation, and Parrish is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The case is now in the hands of the court, where a determination will be made regarding Parrish’s guilt and the severity of his punishment.
