Convicted Felon Gets 10 Years for Guns, 6 Kilograms of Marijuana
ST. LOUIS – In a move aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey sentenced convicted felon Jamie Jeffrey to 10 years in prison for possession of firearms and marijuana in St. Louis County.
On March 1, 2022, St. Louis County Police Department officers pulled over a 2008 Bentley driven by Jeffrey, 47, of Eureka, California. Upon inspection, the officers discovered a box in the backseat containing approximately six kilograms of marijuana, along with two pistols and $1,030 cash in Jeffrey’s pants pocket.
During questioning, Jeffrey revealed that the marijuana was part of a 100-pound shipment he obtained in trade for a 1969 Firebird in California in November 2021. He further stated that he had traded some of the marijuana for the firearms, despite being a convicted felon and barred from possessing them.
Jeffrey had previously pleaded guilty in July to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The St. Louis County Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Goeke serving as prosecutor.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, and setting strategic enforcement priorities.
As part of the Department’s violent crime reduction strategy, launched on May 26, 2021, PSN focuses on core principles such as fostering trust and legitimacy, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
Jeffrey’s 10-year prison sentence serves as a harsh reminder of the consequences of violating federal laws and engaging in illicit activities. It also highlights the Department’s commitment to making neighborhoods safer through targeted enforcement and community partnerships.
