Felon Norman Warren Pleads Guilty to Gun Law Violation

Felon Norman Warren, 24, of Penn Hills, Pa., has entered a guilty plea in federal court for violating the stringent federal firearms laws. According to United States Attorney David J. Hickton, Warren’s conviction stems from an incident on or about Sept. 4, 2012, where he was caught with a Hi-Point, .380 caliber pistol while being a convicted felon.

United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti presided over the plea hearing, which took place in Pittsburgh. The court has scheduled sentencing for Sept. 23, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., where Warren faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence will be determined based on the severity of the offense and Warren’s criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Charles A. Eberle is handling the prosecution on behalf of the government. The investigation that led to Warren’s arrest was conducted by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives.

Norman Warren’s illegal possession of a firearm as a convicted felon underscores the seriousness with which federal authorities treat violations of firearms laws. The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who disregard these critical regulations.
