Ronald Everett Spivey Jr., Sex Trafficking and Exploitation of a Minor, Oklahoma 2013

TULSA, Okla. — In a chilling turn of events, Ronald Everett Spivey Jr., 47, from Oklahoma City, has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of sex trafficking and exploitation of a minor, according to United States Attorney Danny C. Williams, Sr.

The 47-year-old stands accused of attempting coercion and enticement of a minor, following an operation led by the Tulsa Police Department’s Vice Unit. Spivey was originally charged in December 2013 with various trafficking and exploitation violations, alongside co-defendant Kimberly Haven, who had previously pleaded guilty to Interstate Transportation and Racketeering charges.

The investigation took a sinister turn during the summer of 2013 when Spivey and Haven were reportedly involved in a commercial sex trafficking venture aimed at recruiting a girl under 18 years of age. The duo traveled from Oklahoma City to Tulsa, believing they were communicating with an underage victim. However, their plans were thwarted as they were actually exchanging messages with an undercover officer from the Tulsa Police Department.

On July 31, 2013, Spivey and Haven were arrested in Tulsa after they arranged a meeting at a pre-determined location for the supposed “17-year-old girl.” The charges against Spivey carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment up to life, along with a fine of $250,000. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 2014.

The investigation into this case was a collaborative effort between the Tulsa and Oklahoma City Police Departments, with Assistant United States Attorneys R. Trent Shores and Clinton J. Johnson leading the prosecution. United States Attorney Williams expressed his commitment to combating child sex trafficking in the Northern District of Oklahoma, commending the Tulsa Police Department’s Vice Unit for their exceptional work.

This case is a part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at fighting child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information on this initiative and internet safety education, visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
