A 62-year-old former certified public accountant from Longmeadow, Massachusetts, has been sentenced for her role in a massive loan fraud conspiracy. Christine Gendron, along with her sister and brother-in-law, defrauded commercial lenders out of nearly $20 million over a four-year period. The scheme involved providing false and fraudulent rent rolls and forged lease agreements for properties in Springfield, East Longmeadow, and Enfield, Connecticut, between May 2016 and November 2018.
Gendron worked as the financial manager for her sister and brother-in-law at LL Realty Developers, LLC, an umbrella company that owned commercial and residential properties in Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and elsewhere. The trio conspired to obtain loans from financial institutions and commercial lenders by providing false financial information, then defaulted on the loans, causing substantial losses and leaving buildings vacant.
The total loss from the scheme was approximately $18.2 million, with the coconspirators seeking to obtain around $60 million in loans. Gendron pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud in June 2025 and was sentenced to one year of confinement, with six months to be served in federal prison and six months under home confinement with a GPS monitoring device.
Gendron’s sentence also includes three years of supervised release and an order to pay $392,607 in restitution for bank fraud. Her brother-in-law, Louis Masaschi, was sentenced to four years in prison in July 2026, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
