A 41-year-old Dominican national, Yodenny Michael Baez-Cabrera, has pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States after being deported in 2017. The crime occurred in Lynn, Massachusetts, where Baez-Cabrera was residing unlawfully. He was charged in April 2026 and pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston. Baez-Cabrera’s guilty plea comes after he was previously convicted of felony assault with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation in Peabody District Court in 2015.
Baez-Cabrera was deported from the United States on July 18, 2017, but he reentered the country without permission sometime after his removal. His actions led to the current charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was investigated with the valuable assistance of the Lynn Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aidan Lang of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case. Sentencing is scheduled for September 22, 2026, before U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun.
