Two men lit up the night – and nearly the Harvard Medical School campus – with a fireworks-fueled explosion in November 2025. Logan David Patterson, 18, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 21, pleaded guilty to conspiring to damage the Goldenson Building, a research lab on the HMS campus.
Surveillance video captured the duo – face covered and dressed in dark – lighting roman candles before scaling the building’s scaffolding and detonating a commercial firework on the fourth floor at 2:45 a.m. on November 1st.
Campus police received a fire alarm alert and discovered the locker in the research lab had been damaged. The pair fled, shedding clothes and returning to the nearby Wentworth Institute of Technology for Halloween festivities.
The Goldenson Building houses a neurobiology research lab, and the blast caused significant damage. The charge carries a five-year prison sentence. Sentencing is set for August 4, 2026.
