Baltimore Felon Caught with Gun

A 43-year-old Baltimore man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland.

Larvon Langley was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release following his prison term, which was enhanced because he is an armed career criminal based on three previous drug trafficking convictions.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander. Langley was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition, and heroin when a search warrant was executed at his residence on April 18, 2012.

Langley, a convicted felon, is prohibited by federal law from possessing a gun or ammunition. The investigation into Langley’s case was a collaborative effort involving the ATF, DEA, Baltimore Police Department, and Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office.

U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the agencies involved in the investigation, thanking Assistant United States Attorney Ayn B. Ducao for her work in prosecuting the case.

The sentence is a result of a plea agreement, and Langley’s sentence was determined by Judge Hollander’s finding that he is an armed career criminal. This designation carried a significant enhancement to Langley’s sentence, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of gun violence and the importance of holding accountable those who possess firearms illegally. The efforts of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute such cases are crucial in keeping communities safe.
