Fentanyl Kingpin Sentenced to 10 Years

BANGOR, Maine—A Lebanon, Maine man has been brought to justice for his role in distributing fentanyl in the community.

An investigation by the FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force of New Hampshire, with the assistance of the Maine State Police, revealed that Angel Valle, 55, had been selling the deadly substance to a confidential informant on multiple occasions.

According to court records, Valle and his associates sold fentanyl to the informant on two occasions in May 2019, distributing a total of approximately 500 grams of the substance.

Valle’s crimes caught up with him in February 2020, when he pleaded guilty to the charges against him. This past week, Chief U.S. District Judge Jon D. Levy handed down a 10-year prison sentence, along with four years of supervised release, for Valle’s role in the fentanyl distribution ring.

The investigation and subsequent prosecution of Valle were part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge, a program aimed at reducing the supply of deadly synthetic opioids.

As the community continues to grapple with the effects of the opioid crisis, this sentencing serves as a reminder that those responsible for perpetuating this crisis will be held accountable.

In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney Donald E. Clark said, ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle the networks that bring these deadly substances into our communities.’
