Six Chinese nationals and two pharmaceutical companies have been charged with narcotics and money laundering conspiracies in Ohio, accused of selling chemical precursors used to manufacture fentanyl. The defendants allegedly marketed and sold these chemicals to domestic and foreign drug traffickers, who then used them to produce fentanyl for distribution in the United States. The charges were brought in the Southern District of Ohio, where dozens of similar cases have been prosecuted in recent months. The investigation, led by the FBI, has been ongoing since at least September 2025.

The indictment marks the first time in the Southern District of Ohio that charges have been brought for providing material support to a Mexican drug cartel designated as a foreign terrorist organization. Three of the defendants are accused of attempting to provide this support, which is a serious escalation of the charges.
