MINNEAPOLIS – A brazen conspiracy to bribe a juror in the Feeding Our Future case has led to five defendants being indicted for their roles, according to U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.
In a stunning revelation, court documents reveal that on April 22, 2024, Abdiaziz Shafii Farah, 35, of Savage, Abdimajid Mohamed Nur, 23, of Shakopee, Said Shafii Farah, 42, of Minneapolis, Abdulkarim Shafii Farah, 24, of Minneapolis, and Ladan Mohamed Ali, 31, of Seattle, Washington, conspired to offer a $120,000 bribe in exchange for a not guilty verdict.
The scheme targeted Juror 52, the youngest juror and an individual of color. The conspirators delved into online research to gather personal information and conducted surveillance to track her daily routine. They even followed her home and installed a GPS tracker on her car.
Armed with approximately $200,000 in cash, Ali attempted to deliver the bribe on June 2, 2024. However, their plans were thwarted when they were caught dropping off the money at Juror 52’s house.
Abdiaziz Farah, who was also charged with obstruction of justice, deleted evidence from his phone after being ordered by Judge Brasel to surrender it. The defendants face charges including conspiracy to bribe a juror, bribery of a juror, and corruptly influencing a juror.
This investigation is the result of a joint effort between the FBI, IRS – Criminal Investigations, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
