FBI Busts Five Milwaukee Men for Armed Robberies of U.S. Postal Carriers

In a shocking turn of events, the FBI’s Milwaukee Area Violent Crimes Task Force, in collaboration with the Milwaukee Police Department, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has arrested five Milwaukee men in connection with a series of armed robberies of U.S. postal carriers. The brazen crimes took place between October 2022 and March 2023.

The defendants, identified as Huria H. Abu, age 20, Jessie L. Cook, age 19, Hussein A. Haji, age 21, Darrion M. Allison, age 22, and Abdi A. Abdi, age 22, were charged with various counts of Hobbs Act robbery, brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, theft of mail, and conspiracy.

According to the indictment, the defendants robbed the U.S. postal carriers of arrow keys, which they then used to steal U.S. mail from mail receptacles. If convicted, each individual faces up to 20 years in prison on each robbery count, a minimum mandatory sentence of seven years and up to life in prison on each charge of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, which must run consecutive to any other sentence. Additionally, if convicted of conspiracy, each individual faces up to five years in prison, and if convicted of theft of mail, each individual faces up to five years in prison.

The public is cautioned that an indictment is merely a charge, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is ongoing, and the defendants are currently being held without bail.

The charges against the defendants are as follows:

  • Huria H. Abu, age 20, was charged with four counts of Hobbs Act robbery, three counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and one count of conspiracy.
  • Jessie L. Cook, age 19, was charged with two counts of Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and one count of conspiracy.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Abbey M. Marzick. The public is urged to report any information regarding this case to the authorities.
