A former high school teacher in Oregon has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to sex abuse charges. David J. Smith, a former teacher at Banks High School, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his crimes.
According to court documents, Smith pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sex abuse and three counts of third-degree sex abuse. The charges stem from incidents that occurred between 2018 and 2022 while Smith was a teacher at Banks High School.
The investigation into Smith’s crimes was conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Justice. Smith was arrested in 2022 and has been in custody since then.
