Fort Wayne Fentanyl Dealer Gets 5 Years

FORT WAYNE, IN – Tracy Nicholson Jr., 22, is facing five years behind bars after admitting to peddling deadly fentanyl on the streets of Fort Wayne. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady handed down the 60-month sentence yesterday, followed by a four-year stretch of supervised release, according to Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.

Nicholson’s operation wasn’t small-time. Court documents reveal he moved over 40 grams of the potent opioid in July of 2024 alone – roughly 500 individual fentanyl pills. That’s enough to kill dozens, if not hundreds, and he knowingly put that poison into circulation.

The bust wasn’t a lucky break; it was a coordinated effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Allen County Drug Task Force. Law enforcement wasn’t stumbling upon a street corner deal. Nicholson actively delivered the pills directly to them, seemingly unaware (or unconcerned) he was walking into a sting.

This case underscores the relentless flow of fentanyl flooding Indiana and the nation, and the callous individuals profiting from addiction and death. While a five-year sentence offers a temporary reprieve, it does little to address the root causes of the opioid epidemic or stem the tide of this lethal drug.

Assistant United States Attorney Teresa Ashcraft prosecuted the case, securing the conviction and pushing for a significant sentence. While Nicholson will serve time, the damage he inflicted on the community, and the potential for future harm, remains a grim reality. The Grimy Times will continue to track drug trafficking cases in Indiana and beyond.

The DEA and Allen County Drug Task Force continue to investigate other potential players in the fentanyl supply chain. Anyone with information regarding drug trafficking is urged to contact their local law enforcement agency or the DEA directly. This isn’t just about taking down dealers; it’s about saving lives.
